Bad Bunny

Given the name “King of Latin Trap,” Bad Bunny has elevated himself into one of the greatest Latino rappers of all time by helping expand the reach of Spanish-language music into the mainstream. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as “Bad Bunny,” was born on March 10, 1994, and raised in the Almirante Sur barrio of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.

Bad Bunny discovered his musical prowess as early as age 14, when he began writing and creating his own music. After graduating high school, he enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, where he initially aspired to become a radio host. However, he left university without completing his degree to build his musical portfolio. Bad Bunny first rose to prominence in 2016 with his song “Diles,” which landed him a recording contract with Hear This Music. His debut studio album, X 100pre, earned a spot on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Although he developed a name within the Latin music industry, he became internationally recognized after several collaborations soared on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, including the number-one single “I Like It” with Cardi B and J Balvin, as well as his feature on Drake’s top-five single “Mía.”

At the core of Bad Bunny’s music has been honoring his Puerto Rican and Latino heritage. He paid homage to his culture when he headlined the Super Bowl LX halftime show in 2026, sparking conversations of appreciation during a time of political division in the United States.

Bad Bunny’s work with other chart-dominating artists created a natural foundation for his solo career to thrive in the U.S. His fourth solo album, Un Verano Sin Ti, was named the world’s biggest-selling global album of 2022 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry and gained widespread popularity. However, its 2025 successor, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, became the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, further solidifying Bad Bunny as a storytelling visionary.
